Ardent Cannabis – Nova – Decarboxylator Review

What Problem Does a Decarboxylator Solve?
Did you know cannabis by itself has little to no psychoactive properties? That’s right, it needs to be heated first.
That’s why most people smoke cannabis, to heat it up to a point where it decarboxylates and unlocks all the psychoactive benefits.
The heating process aka “decarbing” unlocks THCA and turns it into THC, which our body’s CB receptors can accept and use.
Think of heat as the key that unlocks the benefits of the cannabis plant for humans.
Well, what if you don’t want to smoke cannabis but still want the benefits? Or what if you already smoke or vaporize cannabis flower but you want the potency of your flower increased?
If this sounds like you, you’re ready for a high-quality decarboxylator.

Is The Nova Lift Decarboxylator and Infuser Perfect?
It’s close! Read on and I will share with you three things I love and one thing I hate about The Nova.
But before we get to that, there are a few things I think you should know – starting with the value proposition.
The Value Proposition
The Nova from Ardent Cannabis activates or unlocks the THC and CBD in your cannabis flower so that it’s more optimized, potent, and bioavailable.
This is particularly important if you are ingesting your cannabis as a medical marijuana patient, but every cannabis enthusiast can benefit from decarbed flower – even if you’re using a vaporizer.

Why Should I Care?
In short, the Nova device makes each gram of flower WAY more potent so you can use a lot less flower to achieve your desired outcome.
And that’s because if you don’t heat or sufficiently decarboxylate your raw cannabis flower, you’re missing a large amount – perhaps even the majority – of benefits the flower has to offer.

So what kind of potency are we talking here?
On average, flower decarbed using the Nova Lift is TWICE as potent as raw flower.
That means you’re getting the biggest bang for your buck in two ways:
1.) You get every single drop of plant goodness from your flower – not just half of it
2.) You save a TON of money on flower over time
And depending on how much flower you use on a weekly basis, this can really add up. Check out the calculator above to see what kind of savings you can expect using the Ardent Nova.

How Long Does The Ardent Nova Take To Decarb Flower?
From start to finish, the Ardent Nova’s entire cycle takes between an hour and a half to 2 hours and 15 minutes depending on the size of your batch and whether you’re decarbing or infusing.
This means you never have to wait long for fresh, potent flower. But my advice?
Turn the Nova on overnight and then store your decarbed flower in a cool, dark place to have at the ready whenever you want it.
Doesn’t Smoking Cannabis Achieve the Same Thing?
Yes and no.
While smoking or vaping flower works to unlock most of the benefits within, these methods aren’t perfect and don’t always deliver one hundred percent of the flower’s potency.
It’s like whenever you’re almost done with a tube of toothpaste and just can’t squeeze out that last bit. You end up throwing away toothpaste every time.
The same thing often happens when you smoke or vape flower – you end up missing a large portion of the benefits because the plant material isn’t being heated perfectly (and this stuff’s way more expensive than toothpaste).

Does The Heat Destroy The Terpene Profile of the Cannabis Flower?
Terpenes are the compounds of the plant that give a plant its smell or scent. In addition to the fragrance of the plant, scientists are beginning to see other health benefits from terpenes.
Cannabinoids like THC and CBD together with the terpenes produce an entourage effect that allows the whole of the plant to be greater than the sum of its parts.
And this is where the Nova shines.
The Nova decarboxylates at the lowest possible temperature to maintain the terpene profile of the plant so you can enjoy the maximum benefit possible.
The Most Underrated Benefit…
One aspect of the Nova that is frequently overlooked is the benefit of sterilization.
While the Nova’s heating action is low enough to preserve the plant’s valuable terpene profile, it’s still hot enough to kill spores and microbes that could be potentially hazardous to your health.
And when trying to enjoy the plant for medicinal purposes, the last thing you want to do is introduce toxic spores and microbes like salmonella into your body.
Unfortunately, it’s all too common to find these things on your flower…
If you haven’t done so already, bring a magnifying glass with you to your local dispensary and you’ll be surprised what you might find when you get down to a granular scale.
It’s not pretty.
That’s where the Nova can be a huge (maybe even literal) lifesaver.
Equipped with advanced logic, dual sensor technology and a hi-tech thermal blanket, the Nova strips away all the bad stuff to leave behind pristine, sparkling-clean flower every time.
And I don’t know about you, but that definitely makes me sleep easier at night.

Can’t I Just Decarb Cannabis In The Oven For Free?
That’s a fair question, but let me explain.
Many people that don’t fully understand the benefit of a special purpose decarboxylation device might say, “I can just put this in my oven and activate it. I mean, doesn’t the oven method work?”
The difference between heating (decarboxylating) your cannabis flower in the oven versus in a specialized, purpose-built device like The Nova is like cooking an egg on the hood of your car versus in a frying pan on the stove.
The Nova does one thing perfectly: it activates your cannabis and makes it optimally useful for consumption in the human body.
And it does this using dual sensor technology that ensures the flower is heated perfectly no matter the type or quantity.

The best part?
Like I mentioned earlier, you end up SAVING a ton of money long-term.
Since cannabis flower is quite expensive, it makes sense to try to stretch your dollar as far as possible to get the most out of it.
If this was any other flower or herb the value proposition might not be there, but with the market price of cannabis around $1600 per pound (.45 kg) or $100 per ounce, investing in a high-quality decarboxylation device like the Nova makes sense to those who have run the numbers.

Who Is The Nova Right For?
If you’re committed to high-quality, activated flower that maintains the best part of the plant, the Nova was made for you.
If you are regularly ingesting flower as a medical patient or if you are vaporizing or smoking the flower regularly, a precision decarboxylation device is a great tool and one that will pay for itself quickly as you will have to purchase way less flower to get the same desired outcome.
3 Things I Love And 1 Thing I Hate About The Ardent Nova
LOVE: It’s ridiculously easy to use. You simply place any type of flower you like into the canister, twist the top on, and press the power button. That’s it. There’s no need to grind your flower beforehand or check if it’s burning like you would with an oven. The Nova’s sensors decarb with laboratory-grade precision, and when the light turns green after an hour and a half you’re left with perfectly decarbed flower every time.
LOVE: It’s versatile. The Nova has opened up a lot of fun ways to integrate cannabis into my life that I just wouldn’t have considered before. From infused olive oil to brownies, the Nova gives you the freedom to not only create your own edibles and topicals the way you want them but also avoid spending a ton on similar products at a dispensary.
LOVE: It saves you a TON of money. There are few things in this world that pay for themselves, and the Nova is definitely one of them. And that’s because this decarboxylator not only makes your flower twice as potent so you’re getting way more out of it, but the Nova also enables you to create your own infused products and save money on the prepackaged stuff at the store. If you haven’t done so already, check out our savings calculator above. You’ll be amazed.
HATE: It’s not great for large batches. At first the Nova’s size was plenty for me (in fact I couldn’t imagine filling the whole canister), but as I started to decarb larger batches, the Nova started to seem a little small. With a capacity of 1 oz of flower, the Nova’s amazing for small batches, but if you’re looking to create larger batches at a time I’d recommend the Ardent FX, which can hold up to 4 oz of flower.

Once My Cannabis Flower is Decarbed, What Can I Do With It?
Smoke it, vape it, sprinkle it into your favorite dinner recipes, blend it into a smoothie…the list goes on.
You can even eat your decarbed flower whole!
And it gets better.
The Nova not only allows you to perfectly decarb your cannabis flower but also infuse it into your favorite oils, edibles, and topicals.
And while infusing might sound complicated, the process couldn’t be easier.

Infuse Your Cannabis in 5 Simple Steps:
- Decarboxylate your cannabis.
- Place the decarbed cannabis into a glass jar of butter or oil or use Ardent’s Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve for a perfect fit in your Nova.
- Put the jar back into the decarboxylator for a second cycle. The second cycle will pull the THC or CBD from the plant and infuse it into the oil.
- When the process is complete, strain the plant material from the oil.
- The infused butter or oil can then be used to make any cannabis product your heart desires.
And the list of ways to enjoy your infused cannabis is long and growing.
