Overview

Have you been looking for an easy way to create your own infused cannabis products (and for half the cost)?

One of the most sophisticated decarboxylators on the market, the Ardent FX provides the ability to make your own tinctures, lotions, and even edibles all from the comfort of your home.

But is this device really worth the money?  We’ll get to that as well as
the three things I love
and one thing I hate about the Ardent FX in just a minute.

What Is Decarboxylation?

Did you know cannabis by itself has little to no psychoactive properties?

That’s right – before THCA produces any psychoactive effects, first it has to become THC, and the same is true for other beneficial cannabinoids like CBD.

For these compounds to “activate,” they have to be heated (or decarbed) within a very specific amount of time, temperature, and atmosphere – a process known as decarboxylation.

But what’s the point of this? Doesn’t smoking cannabis achieve the same thing?

Yes and no.

While smoking or vaping flower works to unlock most of the benefits within, these methods aren’t perfect and don’t always deliver one hundred percent of the flower’s potency.

It’s like whenever you’re almost done with a tube of toothpaste and just can’t squeeze out that last bit. You end up throwing away toothpaste every time.

The same thing often happens when you smoke or vape flower – you end up missing a large portion of the benefits because the plant material isn’t being heated perfectly (and this stuff’s way more expensive than toothpaste).

This is where decarboxylating is different.

When you heat flower in a controlled environment, you’re able to fully activate the cannabinoids for a much higher potency than smoking and vaping are capable of.

And it’s not as simple as sticking bud into a toaster oven or crockpot either.

Fully activating cannabinoids like CBD and THC without destroying them requires a very precise, scientific process, and this is almost impossible to replicate outside a laboratory.

That is until the Ardent FX entered the scene.

“Fully activating cannabinoids like CBD and THC without destroying them requires a very precise, scientific process, and this is almost impossible to replicate outside a laboratory.”

What Problem Does a Decarboxylator Solve?

When done correctly, decarbing your cannabis at home not only gets WAY more out of your cannabis but also allows you to use it however you like.

This is where the Ardent FX is a game-changer.

This portable decarboxylator encapsulates this complicated process into a convenient, all-in-one tool that makes creating your own cannabis products a breeze.

Why Should I Care?

As we discussed earlier, if you don’t heat or sufficiently decarboxylate your raw cannabis flower, you’re missing out on almost all of the plant’s benefits.

This is especially important if you’re ingesting cannabis as a medical marijuana patient.

Not just that, but the FX makes each gram of flower way more potent so you don’t have to use as much flower to get your desired outcome.

And don’t even get me started on the convenience factor!

No trial and error, no assembly, and no standing over a stove for hours trying to maintain the perfect temperature with a handheld thermometer.

With the Ardent FX, you just set it and forget it. Simple as that.

Not to mention this little tool can save you a TON of money over the long haul, but more on that in a second.

Ardent FX Decarboxylator Review from Canna Insider

The Ardent FX vs the Nova: What’s New?

Here’s the Deal:

While Ardent just recently released the Nova FX, the company is famous for their original decarboxylator, the “Nova.”

So what’s the same and what’s different about Ardent’s flagship model and the new FX? Let’s dive in.

What Are The Similarities?

Equipped with advanced logic, dual sensor technology, and a hi-tech thermal blanket, both the Nova and the FX use precision heating cycles to achieve fully decarboxylated cannabis without loss or degradation.

This makes both models great for optimizing the potency and bioavailability of your cannabis.

Both the Nova and FX are also equipped to infuse butter and oil with THC and CBD, and these infusions can be used in a variety of recipes from baked goods to lotions.

Want to learn more about the Nova? Check out our review here: Ardent Nova Review

How Is The FX Different?

While the Nova is perfect for decarbing and infusing botanicals, the FX can go one massive step further by actually baking edibles right inside the device.

You read that right.

That’s why this amazing kitchen gadget has been nicknamed the Easy Bake Ardent – because it does it all and requires absolutely no cooking, baking, or cannabis experience whatsoever.

This means if this is your first time entering the world of DIY cannabis goods, the FX totally eliminates the barrier to entry. It also leaves zero room for error if you’re like me and can’t cook to save your life 🙂

Not just that, but the FX is four times bigger than the Nova and can hold up to 4 oz of plant material at a time.

So let’s compare the two side-to-side.

Here’s what you get with the Nova:

  • Full activation of THC and CBD in your flower, kief or concentrates
  • Use to infuse butter and oil
  • Odorless and mess-free, no cleanup necessary
  • Easy to use from your home (unit is 7.5″ x 4″)
  • Holds up to 1 ounce of flower or 5 ounces of kief

And here’s what you get with the FX:

  • Decarboxylate, extract, infuse, melt, and bake all in one appliance
  • Full activation and infusion of THC, CBD, CBG, and other cannabinoids
  • Use any plant material (including flower, kief, and concentrate)
  • Odorless
  • Stainless steel cavity
  • 4 different settings for a full range of activation, infusion, melting, baking and more
  • Detachable base for easy cleanup
  • No minimum material amount, work with up to 4 oz of plant material at a time
  • Perfect as a personal cooking and crafting device in addition to all of its cannabis capabilities

This Is A Deal-Breaker…

When creating your own infusions and baked goods, the last thing you want to do is introduce toxic spores and microbes like salmonella to your body.

But finding toxins like these on your flower is unfortunately very common.

If you haven’t done so already, bring a magnifying glass with you to your local dispensary and you’ll be surprised what you might find when you get down to a granular scale…

We’re talking insect feces. Lots of insect feces.

Yeah. Yuck.
This is where the FX is (literally) a life-saver.

Why? Because the device’s heating action is hot enough to actually sterilize flower, killing spores and microbes that could be potentially hazardous to your health.

Does The Heat Destroy The Terpenes Inside Cannabis?

As you may know, terpenes aren’t only the compounds that give a plant its scent, but plant scientists are also beginning to find terpenes actually offer their own health benefits.

This is especially true when terpenes are combined with cannabinoids to produce an entourage effect or synergy that magnifies all of the plant’s different benefits.

Unfortunately when you use the oven method to decarb cannabis, it can be next to impossible to keep the temperature low enough to preserve the plant’s terpenes – especially because different spots in the oven are hotter than others.

That’s where the FX wins again.

While hot enough to sterilize the flower, the FX decarboxylates at a temperature that’s still low enough to maintain the valuable terpene profile and create an extract with maximum benefits.

The Value Proposition

Is It Worth The Price?

Because cannabis flower is so expensive, it only makes sense to try to stretch your dollar as far as possible to get the most out of it.

While the value proposition might not be there if this were any other flower or herb, because the market price of cannabis is around $1600 per pound (.45 kg), investing in a high-quality decarboxylation device like the FX can save you a fortune over time.

Here are just a few reasons the FX is well worth the one-time fee:

1.) Simple And Easy To Use
Four automated settings mean you can effortlessly activate all varieties of herbs and instantly become an infusion and baking expert.

2.) No Trial And Error Required
The FX takes out all the guesswork so you don’t have to run science experiments to create your favorite products, including tinctures, lotions, edibles – you name it.

3.) Save Money And Stop Wasting Ingredients
The FX is 100% accurate and efficient, allowing you to use less and extract more out of your flower.

How much? Check out the calculator below:

“Because the market price of cannabis is around $1600 USD per pound (.45 kg), investing in a high-quality decarboxylation device like the FX can save you a fortune over time.”

Who is the FX Right For?

Whether you use cannabis regularly for medical purposes or simply to enjoy its many health benefits, Ardent’s FX decarboxylation device is a must-have.

With its large stainless steel cavity and full range of settings for activation, infusion, melting, and baking, this device allows you to create any cannabis product you like and in large batches that you can store for later use.

This makes the FX an incredible tool for those who use cannabis daily – and one that will pay for itself quickly.

Why? Because you can purchase way less flower to get the desired outcome AND create recipes just as good if not better than all the expensive tinctures and edibles on the market.

Who is the FX NOT Right For?

If you’re okay with decarbing small amounts of cannabis at a time and don’t see yourself using the FX’s baking function, the Ardent Nova may make more sense for you.

The Three Things I Love And The One Thing I Hate About The Ardent Nova FX Decarboxylator

LOVE: It’s ridiculously easy to use, you throw your flower into the canister, put the top on and press the power button. That’s it you are done. You don’t have to grind your flower, you don’t have to check if it’s burning in the oven. The Nova’s sensors know exactly how to decarb the flower perfectly.

LOVE: The Nova has opened up a lot of fun ways to integrate cannabis into my life that I just wouldn’t have considered before. I never would have made an infused olive oil or brownie bites, but I am glad I have and so are my friends and family.

LOVE: The savings. Ok, if you have not done so already use the calculator above to calculate how much you’ll save by investing in a Nova. There are few things in this world that pay for themselves, thankfully the Nova FX is one of them. The savings come from the fact that your flower is twice as potent after being run through the Nova FX, so you only need to buy half as much as you normally would.

HATE: I wish there was more color options other than just the purple option. The color is loud and draws the attention of guests to my home who see the Nova on the counter and say “what is that?” For 99% of visitors to my home I am happy to explain what the Nova FX is and why I love it, but there are occasional visitors or family members who just are not into cannabis, and it makes for an awkward moment. Suggested alternative colors would be silver or black.

Final Thoughts

From decarboxylating to baking, the FX does everything a lab-grade machine can do and more – all in a convenient, hassle-free device.

If you want to extract the most from your flower and create high-quality cannabis products for a fraction of the price, we can’t recommend the Ardent FX enough.
