Pros and Cons
You may access CTU content for one year from the date you purchased it and you can access this information as often as you like during that time. In addition, if you fail the certification exam you can retake it as many times as necessary to pass. CTU’s content is a combination of ebooks and videos.
We think the “Medical Marijuana Laws and Regulations” was the most valuable section. This course is updated to reflect current laws and even includes an FAQ that details California’s Prop 64 passed in November 2016. The FAQ style is easy to read and breaks down complex legal jargon into everyday terms. The laws and regulations course also includes videos discussing federal cannabis laws, your legal rights, and federal hypocrisy in America. The ebooks describe the regulations and the videos provide context to the legal environment. This combination of content gives the viewer a comprehensive understanding of the laws and regulations through different learning formats. Each of the courses mixes ebook content and video content well and this is one of the major strengths of CTU.
One of the downsides of CTU’s content is that it remains fairly high level. Granted, we are cannabis industry experts here at CannaInsider, so this information was not new to us. If you are brand new or have a very basic understanding of the industry and the plant, CTU will certainly be helpful. The format of going through the lessons in order makes it easy to learn and puts all of the information in one place, cutting down extensive research time. CTU also gives you access to four of Ed Rosenthal’s ebooks. Ed Rosenthal is a world-renowned California cannabis grower and the author of several industry-leading books on growing. CTU provides its students with online copies of “Ed Rosenthal’s Marijuana Growers Handbook,” “Beyond Buds,” “Big Book of Buds Greatest Hits,” and “Marijuana Harvest.”
Latest Videos
As of Spring 2018, Cannabis Training University added new videos on growing and extraction. This detailed course offers content such as “How To Set Up A Two Plant Hydroponic System” and “How To Use A Light Timer.” You can also find downloadable PDFs titled, “30 Must-Haves for Any Indoor Marijuana Grower” and “How To Clone Cannabis.” This content is complementary to Ed Rosenthal’s e-books, creating a robust set of data and information for growers at any stage of the process. Growing cannabis can be expensive, so it’s important to have as much knowledge at your fingertips as possible. CTU’s platform provides just that – and it is easily searchable and deeply detailed.
Is Cannabis Training University worth it?
CTU is worth it for those looking to gain a comprehensive overview of the cannabis plant and industry. It provides a great starting point for those still considering how they want to get involved in the industry. You can first learn about the plant — its medicinal uses, how to cook with it, how to grow it, why its illegal in the United States. Next, you learn how to break into the industry — what budtenders need to know and basic considerations when considering opening a business. CTU is a great one-stop shop for novices and beginners, but may not be worth it for those already working in the industry or those looking for advanced professional positions. CTU is especially valuable for aspiring growers. They have an entire course on growing cannabis and Ed Rosenthal’s four ebooks provide hundreds of pages of additional content that is incredibly valuable.
