Do you prefer vaporizing your CBD? I think you can agree with me that it can often be more convenient, fun, and flavorful to vaporize CBD than to take a sublingual. In today’s post we’re going to review Dixie Botanicals CBD vape cartridge. What is unique about the lab testing process of this product? We’ll get to that in a bit. But first let’s talk about what’s inside.

Dixie Botanicals CBD Vape Cartridge Review

The Contents of This CBD Cartridge

This CBD vape cartridge contains distillate CBD oil, terpenes, and propylene glycol (PG). PG is a common vaporizer additive. It’s a synthetic organic compound that is colorless and absorbs water. It helps carry the CBD into the body via the lungs when inhaled. But what about the first two ingredients? The main ingredients in this cartridge are distillate CBD oil and terpenes. Each cartridge contains 250 mg of CBD.

Distill…what?

CBD that has been distilled has gone through a process of refinement that manipulates boiling points, steam, temperature, and pressure so that the pure CBD is isolated from other compounds. It’s a complex scientific process, but it ensures that you’re getting a high quality, pure product. THC, as with any cannabinoid, can also be distilled, but this cartridge is strictly CBD. A distilled CBD compound is a perfect blank canvas to add other compounds to it to create a custom blended product.

Dixie Botanicals has added citrus and pine tasting aromas (the terpenes) to this pen so that you’re vaporizing experience is pure, concentrated, and enhanced by taste. Speaking of taste. What does this cartridge taste like?

Tastes like…

A walk in the forest. The pine and citrus flavors creates this earthy, yet zesty combination that is both slightly uplifting and relaxing at the same time. The pine flavor is reminiscent of a forest and immediately brings you back to your favorite hike in nature. This combination is excellent because you’re not overwhelmed by the taste of cannabinoids (in oils this can often be unpleasant) nor are you consumed with tasting the propylene glycol, which can often taste like chemicals. Many vaporizers have both propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin and the combination can be detected, but not here. This CBD cartridge is vegetable glycerin free and the PG isn’t noticeable. The distillate is also indicative of a high quality extract and it’s noticeable. We felt the effects of the calming pen almost immediately.

What more could you want when it comes to flavor?

But Where Does The Hemp Come From?

Where does Dixie Botanicals source their hemp? The company sources their hemp from farms in Europe. The hemp is non-GMO and is grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. It’s so important to have clean source hemp. Hemp is such a diverse, powerful plant and it will clean the soil that it’s grown in. It’s often used to clean up brown fields or as a cleaning crop between harvests of other plants or crops. If these other plants were grown with heavy pesticide use, hemp will be planted between harvests to clean the soil so that the soil is ready for the next batch of plants. This is great for farmers and the land, but that hemp may not be fit for use in CBD oil because it may be contaminated. So it’s important that CBD companies are wary of where and how their hemp is grown.

There’s more:

The extraction process. Now that we know Dixie Botanicals uses clean source hemp. How is the CBD extracted?

Extraction Process -Key Insight

Dixie Botanicals uses supercritical CO2 extraction methods to obtain CBD oil from the hemp plant. CO2 extraction is the industry standard because it uses temperature and pressure to extract CBD oil rather than solvents. Solvents can leave residual matter once they have been burned off and if not done properly, this can be harmful in the end product. CO2 extraction fits into one of two categories — supercritical and subcritical. Supercritical CO2 extraction means that the material is held at or above its critical temperature and critical pressure. Subcritical extraction means its held at or below its critical temperature and critical pressure. The critical point designates when a liquid and a vapor can coexist. Dixie uses supercritical extraction methods to make this oil. We’ve seen companies use both methods and create great products.

How It’s Best Consumed

Dixie Botanicals CBD vape cartridge is compatible with any 510 thread battery vaporizer. On Dixie’s website, you can purchase a KandyPens Slim Battery in a bundle pack with the cartridge. This battery is has no button — just charge it using the USB plug that it comes with and you’re ready to go. The KandyPens Slim Battery is designed for portable use. It’s small, discreet, and can be taken on the go. It also does not have a button. All you have to do is inhale and the KandyPens Slim Battery will immediately start to work. For busy consumers, this one stop shop experience will make your CBD vaporizing quite convenient!

The Uniqueness Of This Particular Lab Testing Process

So what’s so unique about the lab testing process of this product? Dixie Botanicals puts their products through a triple lab tested process. This means that each batch of hemp oil undergoes testing at three points throughout the manufacturing process. The oil is tested for purity and potency, specifically, solvents, heavy metals, and any other potentially harmful contaminants in the oil.

So when does this happen?

First, the oil is tested when it is first extracted from the plant. This happens in Europe, where Dixie Botanicals sources their hemp from.

Second, the oil is tested when the oil clears US Customs and arrives from Europe. This happens in the United States in a designated facility.

Third, the oil is tested after formulation once it’s in the final product.

That seems like a lot of testing, but it ensures a high quality product. Dixie Botanicals uses a third party lab, Pro Verde Laboratories to test their oil. Dixie Botanicals does not post the lab test results online, but you may reach out to the company for this information.

Bottom Line?
We are happy to give Dixie a strong rating a big thumbs up on all criteria and encourage you to check out their site.
